The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) has refuted claims that the escalating prices of commodities is due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine as the government asserts.

While giving his remarks recently at Kololo ceremonial grounds during international women's day celebrations, the president of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni attributed the increase of prices of goods to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

However, the Alliance for National Transformation president Rtd. Maj.Gen. Gregory Mugusha Muntu attributed the increase in commodities to the high level of corruption, wasteful expenditure, human rights violations, high and poor use of taxes among others in the country.

Rtd. Maj.Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu who was  addressing the media at Party headquarters Kampala said there is a need for immediate implementation of short and medium term measures to curtail escalating prices of commodities to enable local poor afford them.

In the same way, the ANT national coordinator Alice Alaso expressed dissatisfaction over the continued acts of human rights violations in the country citing out an example of the way how nine journalists of Digitalk media were recently arrested in the military raid done at their offices and their detention beyond the constitutional 48 hours.
