Speaker Oulanyah’ death: president museveni orders flags at half- mast

The president of Uganda H.E Yowei Kaguta Museveni has directed that Uganda’ flags flag half-mast until the burial of the fallen speaker of parliament jacob oulanyah.


President museveni made the directive through his official Twitter account which he said he will be using to communicate about the same matter.

“Countrymen and countrywomen yesterday, at about 12.40pm, it was my sad duty to announce the untimely death of our speaker, the rt. hon. jacob oulanyah, mp for omoro. Today, i add the following:

3 thirdly, i direct that the flags in Uganda fly at half- masts until the burial of the rt. hon. jacob oulanyah. This is provided for in the official burials” tweeted museveni


President museveni on sunday announced oulanyah’s death on twitter saying he was a good cadre. 
The now deceased omoro county mp (omoro district) was elected speaker on may 24, 2021, after defeating ms kadaga. He served as deputy speaker of parliament from may 2011 until may 2021.

He has also been the vice president north in the ruling national resistance movement (nrm)
