Despite Brighton's dominance in possession, Arsenal's solid defensive display, led by Gabriel Magalhaes and Piero Hincapie, prevented any breakthroughs from the home team.
Brighton had their chances, particularly in the early stages when Arsenal keeper David Raya had to make a crucial save to deny Carlos Baleba. However, they struggled to convert their possession into clear-cut opportunities, with Raya denying them once again later in the game.
Arsenal, on the other hand, had a chance to extend their lead through Kai Havertz but were unable to capitalize, leading to a tense finale as Brighton pushed for an equalizer.
Brighton's manager, Fabian Hurzeler, criticized Arsenal's perceived time-wasting tactics during the match, expressing disappointment in the outcome. In response, Arsenal's Mikel Arteta brushed off the comments, emphasizing his admiration for his players and their competitive spirit.
