Top volleyball clubs from East Africa are gearing up for the Genocide Memorial Tournament 2025 in Kigali, set to showcase intense competition and continental rivalry.
The Genocide Memorial Tournament (GMT) 2025 is set to create a thrilling atmosphere in Kigali as top volleyball clubs from East Africa prepare to clash from June 20th to 22nd, 2025. The tournament will feature both men's and women's categories, emphasizing national pride and continental competition.
Organized by the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) in partnership with the National Olympic and Sports Committee, the three-day event will be held at Petit Stade. This tournament holds special significance as it commemorates the victims of the 1994 Genocide through the sport of volleyball, uniting the community in remembrance.
In the previous edition of the tournament in 2024, Police emerged victorious in the men's category, while APR claimed the title in the women's division. They defeated Gisagara and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) respectively in the finals, setting the stage for another intense showdown this year.
Adding to the excitement, five top Ugandan clubs are confirmed to participate in this prestigious tournament. Among them are three women's teams - KCB Nkumba, Ndejje Elites, and Vision Volleyball Camp - along with two men's teams, Nemostars and Sky VC, promising a diverse and competitive lineup.
As the volleyball community eagerly anticipates the GMT 2025, fans can expect exceptional displays of talent, sportsmanship, and fierce competition in Kigali, making this event a highlight in the East African sports calendar.
