Sheikh Siliman Kasule Ndirangwa, the ex-Supreme Mufti of the Kibuli-based Muslim faction in Uganda, has passed away at the age of 65. The news of his demise was confirmed by close family sources and senior Muslim leaders on Friday, June 21, 2025.
Sheikh Ndirangwa, who resigned unexpectedly in April 2021, was a prominent figure in Uganda's Muslim community. He was known for his efforts to foster unity and promote socio-economic development, education, and interfaith dialogue.
Having served as the spiritual leader of the Kibuli Muslim administration, Sheikh Ndirangwa's resignation came amidst internal factional disputes, but he emphasized the importance of cohesion among Muslims in the country.
Originally from Kawempe, Sheikh Ndirangwa was widely respected as a moderate and unifying voice within Uganda's Muslim community. His passing has saddened many, and funeral arrangements are currently being made. The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council is expected to release an official program for his funeral soon.
