The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has approved a 39.6 billion shilling budget for the 2026 financial year during its 101st Ordinary General Assembly. The meeting, held at Hoima Resort Hotel in Hoima City, Kitara Region, saw the budget estimates presented by FUFA Finance Director Julian Namuganga Bbosa.
The budget outlines key revenue streams, with the Government of Uganda contributing the largest share at 17 billion shillings, accounting for 43% of the total budget. Other significant sources include FIFA and CAF grants, sponsorships, and additional funding streams. The detailed breakdown is as follows:
- FIFA – 8.8 Billion Shillings
- CAF – 2.2 Billion Shillings
- Government – 17 Billion Shillings
- Sponsors and Partners – 7.3 Billion Shillings
- Other Sources – 4.2 Billion Shillings
Namuganga emphasized that the budget is driven by two core pillars: Governance and Sport. Under Governance, priorities include Estate Management and Legal Compliance. On the Sport side, key focus areas are the FUFA Technical Master Plan, the East Africa PAMOJA initiative for AFCON 2027, and stakeholder welfare, including medical insurance, equipment, and budget support.
The expenditure forecast aligns with FUFA’s various directorates and departments, such as competitions, governance, communications, marketing, and national teams. Notably, national teams are expected to consume the largest portion of the budget, accounting for 35% of total expenditures.
For the 2026 financial year, FUFA’s total budget forecast stands at 48.6 billion shillings, with 39.6 billion allocated to priority expenditures and 9 billion earmarked for unfunded priorities.
The budget approval marks a significant step in FUFA’s strategic planning as it continues to drive football development in Uganda and prepare for major events like AFCON 2027.
