Jhon Duran Secures Season-Long Loan Move to Fenerbahce

Colombian forward Jhon Duran has completed a season-long loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, just six months after his high-profile transfer from Aston Villa to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. The 21-year-old, who joined Al-Nassr in January for a reported £71 million, will now continue his career in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Duran made a significant impact during his time at Aston Villa, scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances last season, though only seven of those were starts. His move to Al-Nassr saw him maintain his form, netting 12 goals in 18 matches. Despite his contributions, Fenerbahce has now secured his services for the upcoming season.

In an official statement, Fenerbahce announced, "Our club has reached an agreement with both the club and the player for Jhon Duran to join our squad on a one-year loan. We wish our player a season full of success under our striped jersey."

The young striker, who has scored three goals in 17 international appearances for Colombia, initially joined Aston Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023 for £18 million. During his time at Villa Park, Duran scored 20 goals in 78 games, though the majority of his appearances were as a substitute, often behind England striker Ollie Watkins in the pecking order.

At Al-Nassr, Duran played alongside Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, helping the club secure a third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League last season. While Duran departs, Ronaldo remains with Al-Nassr after recently signing a two-year contract extension.

Fenerbahce, managed by the legendary José Mourinho, finished second in the Turkish league last season and will be looking to bolster their attack with Duran’s addition as they aim for domestic and European success.
