Manchester United has appointed former player, Jonny Evans, as the head of loans and pathways. Evans, who is in the final stages of completing his UEFA A Licence, will oversee loans for United's young players and collaborate closely with director of football, Jason Wilcox, and the director of Academy to refine processes that optimize individual player development and prepare young talent for the first team.
Evans' transition into this role signifies the culmination of his impressive playing career, which spanned across two stints at United. The Academy graduate made 241 appearances for the Red Devils, winning the Champions League, three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and two League Cups. In total, Evans made 536 senior appearances, serving five clubs with his trademark professionalism.
Internationally, he earned 107 caps for Northern Ireland and was honored with an MBE in 2023 for his contributions to football. Evans officially announced his retirement from football, expressing gratitude towards his teammates, coaches, and the fans who supported him throughout his 20-year career.
