Crucial CAF Champions League Matchday 6: Quarter-Final Fates Hanging in the Balance
As the CAF Champions League group stage concludes, several teams face pivotal matches to secure quarter-final berths.
Manchester United reportedly close to securing the signing of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with a medical scheduled for next week.
Manchester United, the 20-time English champions, are reportedly edging closer to sealing a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with a medical appointment scheduled for next week. According to recent reports, talks between the two clubs are ongoing, and both parties are optimistic about reaching an agreement soon.
The Red Devils had previously seen their initial bid for Mbeumo rejected, but a new offer of £55m, plus £7.5m in add-ons, has been tabled and is said to be sufficient for Brentford. However, the Bees are holding firm, hoping for a larger initial payment from Manchester United.
Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the 24-year-old, but Mbeumo is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford. The Cameroon international was in impressive form for Brentford during the 2024-25 season, scoring 20 goals and registering nine assists in 42 appearances.
If a deal does go through, Mbeumo could join his new teammates for the start of pre-season on July 7. He is then expected to make his debut for Manchester United in their opening pre-season friendly against Leeds United on July 19, before the squad departs for their pre-season tour of the USA.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
