Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo's Potential Shirt Numbers at Manchester United Revealed

Manchester United’s recent transfer activity has seen the club secure the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo reportedly nearing completion. As the new signings prepare to make their mark at Old Trafford, speculation has emerged regarding the shirt numbers they could wear. Cunha is reportedly set to inherit the iconic number 10 jersey, previously worn by Marcus Rashford. Rashford, who spent the latter half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Aston Villa, is unlikely to return to the squad, with Barcelona in talks over a potential loan move. Meanwhile, Mbeumo is expected to retain his familiar number 19, which he has worn for both Brentford and the Cameroon national team. The winger is said to prefer keeping this number to avoid the added pressure of a more high-profile jersey. However, other options, such as the number 17 or 9, could become available depending on the departures of Alejandro Garnacho or Rasmus Hojlund, respectively.

United’s number 21 and 25 shirts, currently worn by Antony and Jadon Sancho, may also be up for grabs next season as both players are likely to leave the club. Nevertheless, Mbeumo’s preference for the number 19 makes it the most probable choice for the Cameroonian forward.
