Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a record-breaking move for Eintracht Frankfurt's striker Hugo Ekitike. The 23-year-old Frenchman, who scored an impressive 15 goals and made eight assists last season, has caught the attention of the Magpies, according to sources. With a potential price tag of more than £70 million, Ekitike would be a valuable addition to the Newcastle squad.

Despite the interest in Ekitike, it has been confirmed that Newcastle have no intentions of selling last season's top scorer Alexander Isak, who has been linked with various European clubs including Liverpool. The 25-year-old Sweden striker, who joined the club from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £63 million, currently holds the record for the highest transfer fee paid by Newcastle.

Ekitike joined Frankfurt last summer on a permanent deal after an initial loan spell from Paris St-Germain and is under contract for another four years. With Newcastle having secured a spot in the Champions League by finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, the club is looking to strengthen its squad for the upcoming campaign.

Last week, Newcastle completed the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest for £55 million. As the new season approaches, it remains to be seen whether a deal for Ekitike will be finalized.
