In a swift and decisive move, police officers from Nateete Police Station managed to halt a robbery attempt in the early hours of Sunday in Lungujja, a suburb of Kampala. According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, the incident occurred when a mobile money attendant raised an alarm, alerting the officers who were on regular patrol about an attack on him.

The swift response from the Nateete police team, led by the area Officer in Charge (OC), led them to the crime scene. Upon confronting the armed suspects, one of them reportedly brandished a panga, causing an officer to discharge a warning shot. This prompted the suspects to flee the scene, triggering a high-speed pursuit.

Two of the robbers were fatally shot near the Stabex petrol station in Lungujja, while a third suspect was shot and later succumbed to injuries sustained during the chase while being transported to Mulago Hospital. The police recovered several items at the scene, including a bag containing over UGX 840,000, a set of house keys, a national ID belonging to the victim, and two motorcycles—one with registration number UGE 294X and the other without a number plate.

In a press briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kituuma Rusoke commended the actions of the Nateete police officers, praising their quick response and professionalism. He urged the public to remain calm as investigations into the incident continue.
