Rising Star Robinho Jr: European Giants Eye €100M Transfer for Santos Sensation
The son of former Real Madrid star Robinho is making waves in Brazilian football, drawing interest from top European clubs.
Spurs explore signing experienced Scottish left-back as Liverpool consider defensive reshuffle amid contract uncertainties.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened negotiations with Liverpool regarding the potential acquisition of defender Andy Robertson, according to BBC Sport sources. The 31-year-old Scotland captain enters the final months of his Anfield contract this summer, having recently expressed uncertainty about his future.
The experienced left-back has seen limited Premier League action this season, starting only four matches since losing his regular spot to summer signing Milos Kerkez. Liverpool manager Arne Slot acknowledged Robertson's professionalism despite the reduced role, stating: "He's remained important to our setup and handled the situation admirably."
Should the transfer materialize, Liverpool might recall Kostas Tsimikas from his Roma loan to maintain defensive depth alongside Kerkez. Meanwhile, Tottenham's interest comes despite recently securing Brazilian defender Souza for £13m and possessing multiple left-back options including Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence.
"Robertson offers precisely what Tottenham currently lack - proven leadership and big-game experience," noted BBC football analyst Murray Burnell.
With only Joao Palhinha representing Tottenham's over-30 contingent among available players, Robertson's nine-trophy Liverpool pedigree - including two Premier League titles and a Champions League - could prove invaluable. The move gains additional context following Ben Davies' season-ending ankle injury this week.
The potential transfer raises questions about Tottenham's priorities, given their more pressing midfield shortages. However, Robertson's availability and contract situation present a rare opportunity to acquire a decorated Premier League defender.
