Unfortunate events unfolded today as the Wales Women's Euro 2025 team bus was involved in an accident on the way to their training session at Arena St Gallen, prior to their match against France. The Football Association of Wales (FAW) confirmed that all players and staff members on the bus escaped unscathed, although an ambulance was present at the scene attending to the driver of another vehicle.
As a result of the accident, the training session scheduled for Tuesday at the stadium has been canceled. However, head coach Rhian Wilkinson's squad may conduct training later in the day at their team base in Weinfelden, approximately 30 minutes away from St Gallen.
Wilkinson and captain Angharad James were not on the bus as they were attending the Wales' pre-match press conference in preparation for Wednesday's Group D game. "Everyone is ok," Wilkinson stated during the conference. "Our priority is to get them all together and away from the scene. We'll be checking in to make sure they all continue to be OK."
The FAW emphasized that "all passengers on the Cymru national team bus and in the other vehicle are unharmed." Their primary objective is to move the players away from the scene and return to the Cymru training base to continue their preparations for tomorrow's match.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
