Formula 1 2026 Season Updates Temporarily Unavailable Amid Technical Issues
Latest Formula 1 news and rumors for the 2026 season are currently inaccessible due to technical difficulties, with updates expected to resume shortly.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen cautions McLaren's Oscar Piastri about compromising his own championship ambitions to assist teammate Lando Norris.
Four-time world champion Max Verstappen has delivered a blunt message to Oscar Piastri, suggesting the McLaren driver risks being perceived as a "number two" if he prioritizes Lando Norris' title bid over his own ambitions. The remarks come as Formula 1 prepares for a crucial Sprint weekend in Qatar, with Norris holding a 24-point advantage over both Verstappen and Piastri.
McLaren has confirmed no team orders will be implemented for the Qatar Grand Prix, despite the tight championship battle. Piastri revealed the team held preliminary discussions about potential cooperation but emphasized his refusal to play a supporting role while mathematically still in contention.
"If that was said to me, I would have told them to f*** off," Verstappen stated emphatically. "If you're a real competitor, you fight – even when trailing. Otherwise, you might as well brand yourself as a secondary driver."
Verstappen, drawing from his dramatic 2021 title duel with Lewis Hamilton, believes his championship experience provides an edge: "Having been through these battles before absolutely helps in managing race weekends, even if people claim it shouldn't."
The Dutchman has staged a remarkable comeback since August, cutting a 104-point deficit through eight consecutive podium finishes. However, he acknowledges needing "everything to go perfectly" to challenge McLaren's current advantage.
