Arsenal and Bayern Munich are set to go head-to-head in the race to secure the services of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, according to exclusive reports. The Gunners, who are on the brink of announcing the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, are reportedly keen on reinforcing their squad with the English midfielder.

Mikel Arteta sees Eze as the missing piece in his new-look line-up, hoping that the addition of the Palace star could finally help Arsenal win the Premier League. However, the German champions are also interested in Eze, with their manager, Vincent Kompany, planning a full-scale attack on the Champions League.

Bayern Munich's squad has been depleted after the loss of Jamal Musiala to a broken leg and a dislocated ankle, and they have identified Eze as a potential solution to bolster their attack. The German giants reportedly missed out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool and have also lost both Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller. As a result, they are also said to be eyeing a deal for out-of-favour Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku.

Eze has a £68 million release clause and has attracted interest this summer following a stellar season in which he scored the winner for Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final. The 27-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists for Palace last season and also netted his first England goal in a 3-0 win over Latvia in March.

With Arsenal yet to make an official bid for Eze, Bayern could potentially swoop in and secure the signature of the English midfielder. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing transfer saga.
