Aston Villa has officially reached an agreement to sign Brazilian winger Alysson from Gremio for a substantial £10.5m fee. The 19-year-old, who has spent his entire career at Gremio, is expected to undergo a medical examination before joining the Midlands club in January.

The initial transfer fee stands at £8.7m, with an additional £1.8m in performance-related bonuses. Gremio, which concluded the Brazilian Serie A season in ninth place, has also secured a 10% sell-on clause for the player. This clause ensures that Gremio will receive a portion of any future transfer fees should Alysson be sold by Aston Villa.

Alysson, known for his versatility as a left-footed right winger, contributed two goals and five assists in 43 appearances for Gremio this season. His addition to Villa's attacking lineup, which already includes talents like Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, Evann Guessand, Jadon Sancho, Donyell Malen, and Harvey Elliott, is anticipated to bolster the team's offensive capabilities.

Aston Villa's recent form has been impressive, with the team securing a victory over league leaders Arsenal on Saturday. This win propelled Villa to third place in the Premier League table, just three points behind Arsenal and two points behind second-placed Manchester City. Under the guidance of manager Unai Emery, Villa has now won seven consecutive matches across all competitions.
