Bournemouth secured a convincing 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, propelling them to second place in the Premier League and handing Sean Dyche his first league defeat as Forest manager.
The match, played at the Vitality Stadium in front of an attendance of 11,204, saw the Cherries dominate from the start. Despite a controversial corner that led to the opening goal, Bournemouth took control early on. Marcus Tavernier scored directly from the set piece in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a fumbled effort by Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.
The hosts doubled their lead just before halftime through Eli Junior Kroupi, who fired a dipping shot into the bottom left corner from 25 yards out. This marked Kroupi's fourth goal in three league games and sealed the win for Bournemouth.
Forest manager Sean Dyche expressed frustration with the decision to award the corner, which he believed should have been a goal kick. "Everyone can see it's a goal kick," Dyche said in a post-match interview. "It's really hard for us managers when the linesperson gives the goal kick, then the referee overrules them."
Dyche also questioned his team's physical fitness, citing a drop-off in performance during the first half. "The biggest disappointment was a drop-off physically," he said. "We never got to grips with Bournemouth's high-pressing game."
The win extends Bournemouth's unbeaten run to eight matches, solidifying their impressive start to the season under head coach Andoni Iraola. In contrast, Nottingham Forest's struggles continue, with the team remaining in the bottom three and failing to build on their midweek Europa League victory over Porto.
Bournemouth's next challenge will be to maintain their momentum, while Forest will look to regroup and address their fitness concerns ahead of their next match.
