Boxxer, a prominent boxing promotion company led by Ben Shalom, is preparing to take legal action against The Times and Sunday Times. This decision comes in response to a series of articles published by the newspapers that Boxxer deems as "inaccurate" and "misleading" regarding the circumstances surrounding its separation from Sky Sports.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Boxxer was in search of a new broadcasting partner after Sky Sports opted not to renew their four-year partnership. The relationship between Boxxer and Sky Sports was established in 2021, following Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing's departure to join DAZN.

According to reports, The Times and Sunday Times may have influenced Sky Sports' decision to distance itself from Ben Shalom's company. In particular, an article titled 'Boxing promoter linked to cricket fixer dropped by Sky' published by the newspapers has prompted Boxxer to take legal action.

The article made reference to Mazhar Majeed, known for his involvement in a cricket spot-fixing scandal in 2010. Despite his past, Majeed has worked with fighters like Amir Khan, Chris Eubank Jr, and Joshua Buatsi as an advisor. The newspapers' coverage suggested that Boxxer had ties to Majeed, a claim that Boxxer refutes as "inaccurate" and "misleading."

Boxxer stated that the articles have negatively impacted its commercial interests, complicating its search for a new broadcast partner. In response, Boxxer has announced its intention to pursue legal action against The Times and Sunday Times to address what it perceives as misinformation and damage to its reputation.

In an official statement obtained by Boxing News, Boxxer declared, "Boxxer is committed to transparency and integrity in all its operations and will be pursuing appropriate remedies through the relevant legal and regulatory channels."
