Burnley has advanced to the third round of the Carabao Cup after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Derby County at Turf Moor. The Clarets' win was sealed by a dramatic stoppage-time goal from Oliver Sonne, who slid home the winner in the 91st minute.

The match got off to a bright start for Burnley, with Aaron Ramsey scoring his first goal in almost two-and-a-half years just four minutes into the game. Ramsey, a former Aston Villa midfielder, capitalized on a swift counter-attack led by Marcus Edwards and Loum Tchaouna, finishing a pass from Armando Broja with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of Josh Vickers' net.

Derby fought back to level the score in the 35th minute, with Bobby Clark scoring his first goal for the Rams. Clark, a 20-year-old former Newcastle youngster, controlled Callum Elder's low driven cross before firing left-footed past Burnley's debutant goalkeeper Max Weiss.

The hosts had opportunities to retake the lead in the second half, but it wasn't until stoppage time that they finally did. Substitute Mike Tresor provided the assist for Sonne's winner, extending Burnley's 15-month unbeaten home record.

Burnley made 11 changes from their previous Premier League win over Sunderland, with Scott Parker handing debuts to Weiss and Broja, as well as a first start to Tchaouna. Derby made eight changes, with Rhian Brewster starting for the first time.

The Carabao Cup third-round draw will take place live on Sky Sports Football on Wednesday night, following the conclusion of Grimsby vs Manchester United. The ties will be played during the weeks commencing September 15 and September 22.
