Burnley's frustrating run in the Premier League continued as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Turf Moor on December 27th, 2025. Despite creating numerous chances, Scott Parker's side couldn't capitalize on their opportunities, leaving them six points away from safety.
The Clarets had 16 shots during the match, but none found the target. Their best chance came in the final minutes when Zian Flemming's shot hit the post. Jacob Bruun Larsen also had a golden opportunity to score just before the hour mark, but his effort went over the crossbar. Armando Broja, who started after scoring against Bournemouth, was also guilty of missing chances.
Everton, meanwhile, were without key players Jack Grealish, Illman Ndiaye, Idrissa Gueye, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but still managed to create a few opportunities. Charly Alcaraz went closest for the Toffees, with a header on target in the first half and an overhead kick in the second, both saved by Martin Dubravka.
Burnley made three changes to the team that played against Bournemouth, with Broja, Marcus Edwards, and Bashir Humphreys starting. Everton made two changes, with Tyler Dibling and Beto starting in place of Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry.
Post-match, Burnley head coach Scott Parker expressed his frustration at the missed chances but praised his team's effort. "We deserved three points today," he said. "We missed some big chances, but the positives are we were in those positions. It's a tough time for us, but I saw a team full of endeavour today."
Everton manager David Moyes admitted his team didn't play well enough to win. "It wasn't a particularly good performance from us," he said. "We didn't play well enough to win the game."
The draw leaves Burnley six points from safety, while Everton drop to 11th place, just four points from the Champions League places. The result was Everton's 112th 0-0 draw in the Premier League, the most of any side in the competition's history.
