Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has criticized Mohamed Salah for remaining silent amid the club's current poor form, urging the star forward to speak out and take a leadership role.

Carragher's comments come after Liverpool suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, marking their sixth loss in seven Premier League matches this season. The reigning champions now find themselves in 11th place, their lowest position in over a decade.

While Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk addressed the media following the Forest loss, Carragher believes that more players, particularly Salah, should be stepping forward to represent the club during this challenging period.

"After the Forest game, Virgil van Dijk has come out and spoken, as he should do as the captain," Carragher said on Monday Night Football. "But there should be other players in that dressing room and speaking for the club."

Carragher pointed out that Salah was vocal about his contract situation last November, eventually signing a new deal in April. The Sky Sports pundit acknowledged that Salah's behavior was criticized at the time but insisted that the Egyptian should now be taking a more prominent role in supporting his team.

"I would like to see Salah as one of the leaders and legends of Liverpool come out and speak for the team," Carragher stated.

Liverpool's recent form has led to increased pressure on manager Arne Slot, despite his successful debut season that culminated in a Premier League title. However, Carragher dismissed suggestions that Slot could be sacked this season, arguing that the Dutchman deserves more time to address the team's issues.

As Liverpool looks to rebound from their disappointing start, the club faces a crucial stretch of fixtures, including matches against West Ham United, PSV Eindhoven, Sunderland, Leeds United, and Inter Milan. The team's next Premier League encounter is scheduled for Sunday, November 30th, against West Ham United.
