The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has disclosed the details for the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025, confirming the participation of 12 teams in the prestigious tournament. Among the teams set to compete is Uganda's Vipers SC, who will be representing the country at the event.

The tournament is slated to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with matches scheduled to kick off on September 2nd and conclude on September 15th. This announcement comes just two days after the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

CECAFA Executive Director, Auka Gecheo, expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming tournament, stating, "We are happy to announce that the tournament will take place September 2-15th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We expect to have a more competitive tournament as most of the teams will use it to prepare ahead of the 2025/2026 CAF competitions."

Last year, Red Arrows from the Zambia Premier League emerged victorious in the CECAFA Kagame Cup by defeating Rwanda's APR FC in the final. The upcoming tournament will see Vipers SC aiming to follow in the footsteps of past Ugandan champions like KCCA, SC Villa, Police FC, and Express FC.

Aside from Vipers SC, other teams expected to participate in the CECAFA Kagame Cup include El Merriekh SC Bentiu from South Sudan, Mlandege SC from Zanzibar, and APR FC from Rwanda, among others.
