Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons, as the Dutch star eyes a move to England this summer. According to reports, Simons has tasked his super agent, Ali Barat, with securing a transfer to an English club.
Simons, 22, is said to be seeking a team that can offer Champions League football after RB Leipzig failed to qualify for European competition this season. German publication Bild revealed that Barat, who was awarded the Golden Boy for Best Agent in 2023, is expected to approach Chelsea and other Premier League clubs on Simons' behalf.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that both Chelsea and Arsenal are "attentive" to the possibility of securing Simons' signature. Chelsea, who have already made significant signings this summer, including Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, are reportedly targeting Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers as their top priority. However, a move for Simons would further bolster their summer spending spree.
While Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also been linked with the Dutch midfielder, Simons is said to prefer a move to the Premier League. The young star is a product of Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy, where he played from the age of seven to 16. He later moved to Paris Saint-Germain before joining RB Leipzig in January for £43 million after a successful loan spell.
Simons, currently valued at £60 million, has previously been on the radar of Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United. Known for his early fame, the midfielder had amassed 2 million Instagram followers by the age of 16. During his time at La Masia, he was nicknamed "Golden Curls" and even met his idol, Xavi Hernandez.
As the summer transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on where Simons lands, with Chelsea and Arsenal emerging as strong contenders for his signature.
