The 10-time record champions, City Oilers, have fortified their squad with the acquisition of two internationally acclaimed athletes. The latest additions to their roster include Canadian star Chad Bowie and Central African talent Kurt-Curry Axel Wegscheider.

Bowie, the son of the former Orlando Magic shooting guard Anthony Lee Bowie, demonstrated an exceptional performance during the 2023/24 Rwandan regular season. He played for Kepler Basketball Club and was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title. His remarkable season included a league-leading 410 points, 62 steals, and a third-place ranking in three-point shooting, with 54 points scored beyond the arc.

Prior to joining Kepler, Bowie played professionally in both the United States and Canada. Before embarking on his basketball career, he studied kinesiology.

Wegscheider, a versatile small forward, has previous experience with City Oilers, having played against them in the 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Both Bowie and Wegscheider are making their move from Rwandan side Kepler Basketball Club, which is currently coached by former City Oilers head coach Mandy Juruni. The City Oilers are currently placed ninth on the league table with 21 points, having won seven and lost seven of their 14 games this season.
