City Oilers Players Cleared to Compete in NBL Playoffs
City Oilers players Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider have been cleared to participate in the National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs following a tribunal ruling on Monday, September 8, 2025. The decision dismisses appeals filed by JT Jaguars and Nam Blazers, which challenged the duo’s eligibility.
The tribunal concluded that the appellants failed to present adequate evidence to overturn the initial clearance granted by the league’s Competitions Council. In its ruling, the panel emphasized that City Oilers were not given an opportunity to address the allegations during the appeals process, further undermining the case against the players.
“The petition and appeal challenging the eligibility of Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider are hereby dismissed,”
stated the official ruling, solidifying the players’ rights to compete. The verdict allows both athletes to rejoin the City Oilers roster as they prepare to face JT Jaguars on Tuesday, September 9, at Lugogo Indoor Arena in a critical playoff matchup.
