Coventry City reclaimed their position as league leaders with a convincing 3-1 win over Sheffield United at the Coventry Building Society Arena. The Sky Blues came from behind to secure their ninth win of the season, with Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Bobby Thomas, and Brandon Thomas-Asante scoring the goals.

Sheffield United, managed by Chris Wilder, had taken the lead through Sam McCallum's header from a corner kick midway through the first half. However, Coventry City dominated the second half, with Sakamoto equalizing soon after the break. Bobby Thomas headed in a corner kick to put Coventry City ahead on the hour mark, and Thomas-Asante sealed the win with a late goal.

The victory marked a successful return to form for Coventry City under Frank Lampard, who made five changes to the team that lost to Wrexham on Friday. The win was a testament to the team's energy and pressure, with Lampard praising his team's performance in the second half.

"The second half was what we want to be, what we've been for big parts of the season, real energy in the team with the way we play," Lampard said in his post-match interview. "We made little tactical tweaks, but the main tweak was our approach to the game, how fast we were, and how much pressure we put on them, and that changed the course of the match."

Sheffield United, on the other hand, suffered their third consecutive defeat, leaving them stuck in the relegation zone. Chris Wilder acknowledged that his team's goals were "avoidable" and that they struggled to cope with Coventry City's direct play.

"A lot of good things, toe-to-toe with the best team in the league who are scoring goals left, right, and centre, winning games left, right, and centre," Wilder said. "The goals are avoidable... we just have to deal with that direct play and we've not really dealt with it."
