Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese forward, has shared his thoughts on Manchester United's current state, expressing concerns about the club's future and the prospects of new manager Ruben Amorim. In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo emphasized that Amorim cannot work miracles at Old Trafford, despite recent positive results.
Ronaldo, who left Manchester United in 2022 after a tumultuous second spell, believes that the club needs to find a working structure to succeed. He praised Amorim's efforts, stating, "He's [Amorim] doing his best... What are you gonna do? Miracles? Miracles are impossible." Ronaldo also highlighted the importance of a solid foundation, citing the club's successful youth teams in the past, which produced talents like Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, and Roy Keane.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner expressed his sadness about Manchester United's current situation, despite his love for the club, where he won numerous titles, including his first Champions League and Ballon d'Or. Ronaldo stated, "I'm sad, because the club is one of the most important clubs in the world - and a club that I still have in my heart... They don't have a structure. I hope that changes in the present-future, because the potential of the club is amazing."
Ronaldo also touched on his own future, revealing that he plans to retire "soon" and aims to score 1,000 goals before hanging up his boots. When asked about his emotions regarding retirement, Ronaldo admitted, "It will be tough, of course. I probably will cry, yes... I'm an open person. It will be very, very difficult, yes."
Despite his concerns, Ronaldo acknowledged that Manchester United has shown positive signs recently, including three consecutive wins under Amorim. However, he believes that the club needs to make significant changes to achieve success. As Ronaldo said, "We have all to be honest and look for ourselves and say, listen, they are not on a good path, so they need to change. And it's not only about the coach and players, in my opinion."
