Deontay Wilder, gearing up for his return to the boxing ring, seemed unfazed by the rumors circulating about a possible matchup with Dave Allen. The former world heavyweight champion is set to face Tyrrell Herndon at the Charles Koch Arena in Kansas on June 27.
Despite coming off a defeat in his last fight against Zhilei Zhang, Wilder remains determined to make a comeback in the heavyweight division. On the other hand, Dave Allen, who recently secured a victory over Johnny Fisher, has expressed interest in facing Wilder in the ring.
In an interview with Boxing News, Allen hinted at a potential showdown with a top-five heavyweight contender, without revealing any names. Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Matchroom Boxing, has also shown interest in arranging a fight between Allen and Wilder, suggesting that Wilder's team might be open to the idea.
However, when directly asked about the possibility of fighting Allen, Wilder appeared nonchalant and unaware of the talks surrounding the matchup. He dismissed the speculation, stating, "I have no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t spend a lot of time on social media. If something’s going on in boxing, someone will come and tell me about it."
With Wilder focused on his upcoming bout against Herndon, the potential clash with Allen remains uncertain. As the boxing world eagerly awaits Wilder's return, only time will tell if a showdown between the two fighters will materialize in the future.
