Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has admitted the club is working to resolve Harvey Elliott's uncertain situation, as the on-loan Liverpool midfielder faces restricted playing time at Villa Park.

The 22-year-old, who joined Villa on transfer deadline day, has made just seven appearances so far. A clause in the loan agreement mandates a £35m permanent transfer if Elliott features in 10 Premier League matches this season. However, Emery emphasized there is no guarantee of a permanent switch, stating, "He is not definitely adding to us with a permanent contract."

Elliott, a standout performer in England Under-21s' European Championship triumph last summer, was notably absent from Villa's Europa League squad against Basel on Thursday. His last appearance came as a late substitute in early October against Feyenoord.

"We are speaking about his situation," Emery told reporters. "I respect him as a player and person, but we have this circumstance. Hopefully, we can find the best solution for his career, whether with us or elsewhere."

Elliott’s limited involvement follows a season where he made only two Premier League starts for title-winning Liverpool. Due to FIFA regulations, he cannot join a third club this term, having already played for both Liverpool and Villa.

As discussions continue, Villa fans await clarity on whether the promising midfielder will secure a more prominent role—or face an early return to Merseyside.
