The Ogun State Police Command announced that Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, a 46-year-old man, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid license. The charges were brought forward in court on Friday, with the trial set to resume on January 20.

The incident occurred when the Lexus SUV, in which Joshua and his companions were traveling, collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. Kayode faces four counts, including dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention resulting in bodily harm and property damage, and driving without a valid national driver's license. He was granted bail in the sum of 5,000,000 Naira (approximately £2,578) and is currently remanded pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.

Social media footage depicted Joshua in pain and disoriented as he was assisted out of the wrecked vehicle. Tributes have poured in for Ghami and Ayodele, who were described as close friends and essential members of Joshua's training team.
