Renowned Ugandan rapper Feffe Bussi has identified failed romantic relationships as a primary trigger for depression and subsequent drug misuse among artists in the music industry.
Speaking candidly during a recent online interview, Bussi explained that many musicians enter partnerships where their significant others provide both emotional support and crucial financial backing for their careers.
"Romantic turmoil is what plunges most artists into despair. When partners depart and withdraw their financial backing and emotional support, artists lose equilibrium. Some tragically turn to substance abuse to cope," Bussi stated.
The artist highlighted how the dual loss of financial stability and personal connection often leaves musicians devastated. He cautioned peers against over-reliance on partners for career sustainability.
Bussi urged fellow musicians to cultivate independent professional foundations: "Focus on building your own sustainable careers. This prevents total collapse when personal relationships fail."
His commentary emerges alongside personal aspirations to host a major hip-hop showcase at Kampala's Lugogo Cricket Oval, underscoring his advocacy for artist resilience.
