Rising Star Shares Unlikely Path to Fame

Ugandan musician Pretty Banks, now celebrated for her hit single Insido, recently disclosed her unconventional journey to stardom during an interview with Galaxy TV. Before captivating audiences with her music, the artist navigated multiple odd jobs—including two stints as a dairy shop attendant—to make ends meet.

“My first job paid just UGX 60,000 monthly. I lasted only a month before getting fired for clashing with my boss,” the singer recalled, laughing. “I was too stubborn to follow orders back then.”

After her dismissal, Banks found work at another dairy shop with a slightly higher wage of UGX 90,000. She later migrated to Elegu, a town bordering South Sudan, where she ventured into currency exchange services. “That phase taught me resilience and adaptability,” she explained.

Praise for New Generation of Artists

The musician applauded Uganda’s emerging talents for breathing new life into the country’s music scene. “Young artists today are fearless—they’re redefining our sound and reaching global audiences,” she remarked.

Addressing aspiring musicians, Banks emphasized patience and commitment: “Success demands time and effort. Embrace every step of the journey—there are no shortcuts.” Her story underscores the grit required to transform humble beginnings into artistic triumph.
