Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has publicly addressed his emotional reactions following Saturday's 2-1 Premier League loss to Newcastle United, describing himself as "embarrassed and ashamed" for an altercation with a pitchside camera operator.

Controversial Match Sparks Tension

The defeat marked City's fourth league loss this season, with contentious refereeing decisions and a disputed winning goal by Newcastle's Harvey Barnes adding to the drama. Guardiola engaged in heated discussions with Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães and match officials after the final whistle, before turning his attention to a Sky Sports cameraman.

"I apologise. I feel embarrassed and ashamed - I don't like it," Guardiola stated during Monday's pre-Champions League press conference. "Even after 1,000 games, I'm not perfect. I make big mistakes, but I always defend my team and club."

Title Race Concerns

The Catalan coach acknowledged his team's challenging position in the title race, noting: "To win the Premier League, we usually need 98-100 points. With four defeats in 12 games, we must improve significantly." When questioned about quadruple trophy possibilities, Guardiola dismissed early speculation: "We never discuss that in November."

Injury Updates and Milestone Match

Ahead of Tuesday's Champions League encounter with Bayer Leverkusen - Guardiola's 100th European match as City boss - the manager confirmed midfielders Rodri and Mateo Kovačić remain sidelined. However, he assured fans Rodri's thigh injury isn't long-term, saying: "We'll take extra precautions with his return."

Reflecting on his European journey with City, Guardiola added: "It's been a top experience - good and bad moments. Sport isn't always comfortable, but that's what shapes us."
