The National Rally Championship (NRC) returns to Northern Uganda for its second-to-last round, the Gulu Rally, also known as the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally. This Friday, 27 crews will tackle the challenging routes, aiming to solidify their positions ahead of the final round in November.
Current leader **Ronald Sebuguzi** holds a narrow six-point advantage over **Ponsiano Lwakataka**, who has dominated this season with four wins. Lwakataka remains hot on Sebuguzi’s heels, pushing for a comeback in the title race. Sebuguzi’s consistency has kept him atop the standings, but Lwakataka’s aggressive pace threatens to disrupt his lead.
Third-placed **Musa Ssegaabwe** trails Sebuguzi by 33.5 points and will seek to close the gap, hoping for an opportunity to challenge the leaders in the finale. In the Clubman Rally Championship, **Walter Kakande, Ahmed Kateete, and Kevin Bebeto** are locked in a tight battle for maximum points to strengthen their positions before the final round.
The Two-Wheel Drive category is equally intense, with **Mansoor Lubega** and **Julius Semambo** separated by just two points, setting up a thrilling contest in Gulu.
The rally honors the late **Rajiv Ruparelia**, a former rally driver who tragically passed away in a car accident in May. The motorsport fraternity continues to celebrate his legacy through this event. With high stakes and fierce competition, the Gulu Rally promises to be a defining moment in the 2025 NRC season.
