Harry Maguire has dismissed suggestions of a Manchester United exit, declaring it would be "unwise" to abandon the club amid its ongoing transformation under revamped leadership.

The England international confirmed United activated a one-year contract extension in January, securing his stay until summer 2025. Despite reported interest from other clubs this offseason, Maguire revealed the Red Devils' hierarchy firmly opposed his departure. While the defender's current deal allows for pre-contract talks with foreign clubs starting in January, the 32-year-old emphasized his belief in United's trajectory since Sir Jim Ratcliffe's minority investment and Jason Wilcox's appointment as technical director. "The structure behind the scenes has evolved dramatically since my arrival six years ago," Maguire said. "We're now in a far stronger position strategically."

United's eighth-place Premier League finish last season marked their worst performance in decades, compounded by a narrow defeat to Arsenal in their 2024-25 opener. However, Maguire remains optimistic: "The management team is steering us correctly. Leaving such an iconic club prematurely would be a misguided decision."

When pressed about potential contract negotiations, the £80m signing from Leicester hinted at undisclosed personal preferences but stressed: "Discussions will happen naturally. For now, my focus is contributing to this new chapter."

The center-back's comments follow his 2023 decision to reject West Ham after United accepted a transfer bid, prioritizing competition for his starting position at Old Trafford.
