The JKL Lady Dolphins claimed a hard-fought 78-68 victory over the JT Lady Jaguars in the 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday, securing their second win of the season.
The Lady Jaguars, who had previously secured back-to-back victories against the Pearl Queens and Victoria She Crocs, saw their winning streak halted by the resilient Lady Dolphins. The opening quarter was a tightly contested affair, with both teams finishing level at 20 points apiece.
The Lady Jaguars took a narrow one-point lead with just over seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, thanks to Sandra Ayikoru Wangeshi's perfect free throws. However, the Lady Dolphins fought back, and the teams were tied at 26-26 before the Lady Jaguars edged ahead.
At halftime, the Lady Jaguars held a five-point lead (40-35). However, the Lady Dolphins roared back in the third quarter, opening with a 14-0 run to seize the momentum and take a five-point lead (56-51) into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Jaguars struggled to maintain their composure, allowing the Lady Dolphins to pull away and secure the 10-point victory. Agnes Ngeri's three-pointer was a crucial moment in the third quarter, helping the Lady Dolphins establish their lead.
Leading the scoring for the Lady Dolphins were Brenda Ekone with 17 points, Ritah Imanishimwe with 16 points, and Melissa Taliba with 15 points. For the Lady Jaguars, Sandra Ayikoru topped the scoreboard with 13 points, followed by Bridget Aber with 11 points and Sarah Ageno with 10 points.
The Lady Dolphins' victory marks a significant step forward in their 2026 NBL campaign, while the Lady Jaguars will look to bounce back from this defeat in their upcoming matches.
