Jordan Obita, the roving left back, recently made his debut with the Uganda Cranes in a friendly match against Cameroon, where they suffered a 3-0 loss. However, he also featured in the 1-1 draw against Gambia, marking a more promising outing. In an interview with FUFA Media, Obita expressed his ambition to contribute significantly to the team's success, stating, "I aim to help create history. Our goal is to excel in AFCON and, most importantly, qualify for the World Cup in America next year."
Obita expressed his excitement about being part of a talented squad, noting that many players already have a familiarity with each other due to their local club connections. He found it an honor to represent his father's country, as the coach had reached out to his football agent to inquire about his interest. "When the coach contacted my agent and asked if I would be interested, I said, of course! It's a tremendous honor to represent my dad's country," Obita stated.
His family, particularly his dad, were incredibly proud and excited to see him on the final list. Despite the mixed results in the friendly matches, Obita remains optimistic about the team's future, emphasizing that there is much to build upon as they prepare for upcoming engagements.
