KCCA FC surged to the top of the Uganda Premier League table after a commanding 4-2 victory over Calvary at Lugogo's MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday. The hosts showcased their attacking prowess with goals from Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Umar Lutalo, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza, and Herbert Achai, while Calvary's Lawrence Olaboro and Stephen Oriokot managed late consolations.
Ahimbisibwe ignited the scoring in the 10th minute, followed by Lutalo's strike just four minutes later. Kwikiriza extended the lead to 3-0 before halftime, but Calvary briefly revived hopes when Olaboro netted two minutes after the break. Achai swiftly restored KCCA's dominance with a 63rd-minute header from a corner, though Oriokot's 73rd-minute effort narrowed the deficit once more.
The result leaves Calvary stranded near the bottom with just one point from four consecutive away fixtures. KCCA, now on 11 points after five matches, face a critical test against Vipers SC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Friday, followed by a clash with Entebbe UPPC later the same day.
In other action, SC Villa delivered a clinical 3-0 win over Buhimba United Saints at Royal Park Butema. Reagan Mpande starred with a brace, complemented by Aslam Ssemakula’s goal, cementing the Jogoos’ strong start to the season.
