Ugandan football club KCCA FC has confirmed the signing of Lazaro Bwambale, a versatile defender who has previously showcased his skills as a right winger but excelled as a right back in the previous season. The 25-year-old's contract with his former team, Kitara FC, expired, and he has agreed to a two-year deal with the Lugogo-based club.
Bwambale joined Kitara FC from lower division Rwenzori Lions in 2022 and played a significant role in their promotion to the topflight. His impressive performances earned him a move to KCCA FC, where he will reunite with his former coach, Brian Ssenyondo, who was recently appointed KCCA's Co-Coach alongside Jackson Magera.
The move could potentially see Gavin Kizito, KCCA's current first-choice right back, shift to central defense next season. KCCA FC aims for a more consistent performance in the upcoming season after a rollercoaster ride that saw them finish fifth in the previous campaign.
KCCA FC has already secured the services of Brazilian winger Joao Gabriel Esteves, who signed a new two-year contract last week. As the new season approaches, fans are eager to see how Bwambale and Esteves will contribute to KCCA FC's quest for success.
