Leeds United have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to acquire midfielder Sean Longstaff for a fee exceeding £12 million. The 27-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract at St James' Park, is set to bolster Leeds' midfield as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.

This deal comes after Leeds saw three previous bids rejected by Newcastle, with their last offer reportedly valued at £10 million plus £2 million in add-ons. Longstaff, a product of Newcastle's academy, has made 171 Premier League appearances, bringing valuable top-flight experience to Daniel Farke's squad following their Championship triumph last season.

Longstaff played a key role for Newcastle in the 2024/25 campaign, featuring in 32 matches across all competitions, including five appearances in the Carabao Cup. His contributions helped the Magpies end a 70-year wait for a domestic trophy. His departure will be recorded as pure profit for Newcastle under the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

This signing marks Leeds' fifth acquisition of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Sabastiaan Bornauw, Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, and Gabriel Gudmundsson. The club is clearly focused on strengthening their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.
