Liverpool Firmly Rejects Bayern Munich's Bid for Luis Diaz

Liverpool have made it clear that Luis Diaz is not for sale after rejecting a formal approach from Bayern Munich for the Colombian forward. The Premier League club has informed Bayern's director of sport, Max Eberl, that they have no intention of entertaining offers for the 28-year-old attacker.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, has become a crucial part of the team under manager Arne Slot. Last season, he scored 22 goals for both club and country, including 13 goals and seven assists in the league, helping Liverpool secure the Premier League title by a 10-point margin.

This is not the first time Diaz has attracted interest from top European clubs. Earlier this summer, Barcelona made a similar approach, which Liverpool also dismissed. The Colombian international has two years remaining on his contract with the Reds and has previously drawn attention from Manchester City and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about his future earlier this summer, Diaz expressed his happiness at Liverpool, stating, "I'm very happy at Liverpool - I've always said so. The transfer market is opening, and we're trying to arrange what's best for us. I'm waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool give us a good extension or I have to see out my two-year contract, I'll be happy. It all depends on them."

In other news, Liverpool has confirmed the appointment of former Netherlands international Giovanni van Bronckhorst as an assistant coach to Arne Slot. Van Bronckhorst, who played for Arsenal in the Premier League, replaces John Heitinga, who left to become the head coach at Ajax. The 50-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having managed teams like Rangers, Besiktas, and Feyenoord.
