Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for an initial fee of £69 million. The 23-year-old French forward is expected to travel to the UK on Tuesday to complete his medical before finalizing the move.

The deal, which could rise to £79 million with add-ons, will see Ekitike commit to a six-year contract with the Reds. He is set to join Liverpool’s Asia tour later this week, marking a significant addition to the club’s attacking lineup.

Ekitike’s transfer comes after Newcastle United had a £70 million bid rejected earlier this month. Meanwhile, Liverpool have also expressed interest in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, signaling their intent to bolster their offensive options.

Last season, Ekitike scored 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances, helping Frankfurt secure a third-place finish. He also provided eight assists and registered 117 shots on goal, more than any other player in the league. His versatility and tactical intelligence have been highlighted as key strengths, making him a valuable asset for Liverpool’s evolving squad.

This summer, Liverpool’s spending has surpassed £250 million, with the club securing high-profile signings such as Florian Wirtz for a potential British record £116 million, as well as defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong for a combined £70 million.

Ekitike’s journey to Anfield has been marked by resilience. After struggling to break into Paris St-Germain’s star-studded attack, he found his footing at Frankfurt, where he excelled both as a lone striker and in a partnership with Omar Marmoush. His adaptability and tactical awareness have made him one of the Bundesliga’s standout performers.

With Ekitike’s arrival, Liverpool are poised to strengthen their attacking options as they aim to compete on multiple fronts in the upcoming season.
