Harry Maguire Receives Suspended Sentence After Mykonos Incident
Manchester United and England defender, Harry Maguire, has been given a 15-month suspended sentence by a Greek court for an incident that occurred in Mykonos in August 2020.
Manchester United are reportedly targeting Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, a player likened to Victor Osimhen, as they seek a cost-effective attacking reinforcement.
Manchester United are reportedly turning their attention to Genk striker Tolu Arokodare as they look to bolster their attacking options under manager Ruben Amorim. The Nigerian forward, who scored 21 goals in 40 appearances last season in Belgium's Jupiler Pro League, has drawn comparisons to Napoli star Victor Osimhen due to his playing style and physical attributes.
Standing at nearly 2 metres tall, Arokodare is known for his aerial prowess, speed, and ability to lead the line effectively. These qualities have caught the eye of United's recruitment team, including Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox, who are said to be impressed by the 23-year-old's potential.
While Osimhen has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, his hefty price tag—reportedly around €70 million in transfer fees and over €10 million in annual wages—has made Arokodare a more appealing and budget-friendly alternative. The Genk striker's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is currently pegged at €16.8 million, making him a significantly cheaper option.
However, Arokodare remains untested at the highest level, which could pose a risk for United as they aim to compete for major trophies. Despite this, his impressive form in Belgium and his potential to thrive in the right environment have made him a genuine candidate for a move to Old Trafford.
United are not alone in their interest, with Portuguese giants Benfica also reportedly keen on securing the striker's signature. This could prompt the Premier League side to act swiftly to secure his services as they continue their squad overhaul this summer.
If the deal materializes, Arokodare could provide the attacking threat United have been lacking in recent seasons, offering a blend of physicality, speed, and goal-scoring ability reminiscent of Osimhen.
