Man Utd's Hojlund on Loan, Antony Moves Permanently
Two Manchester United forwards are set to begin new chapters in their careers this season, following separate transfer developments involving the Premier League giants.
Young Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund has joined Serie A champions Napoli on a season-long loan. The 22-year-old international will spend the 2025/26 campaign with the Italian club, which also owns the option to make his transfer permanent for £38 million next summer. Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford for a combined fee of £153 million alongside his compatriot Antony.
Meanwhile, Brazilian winger Antony has completed a permanent move to La Liga side Real Betis. The 25-year-old departs Manchester United for a transfer fee of £21.65 million on a five-year contract. Included in the agreement was a clause allowing Betis to recall the player from his existing season-long loan spell with them earlier in the campaign.
Antony, who cost Manchester United £81.3 million when joining from Ajax in 2022, made 62 Premier League appearances but failed to replicate the impact seen during his time on loan in Italy. During that loan spell last season, he scored nine goals in 26 matches across all competitions for the Azzurri outfit.
Regarding the specific terms of the deals, United sources reported Antony's transfer fee was structured at 22 million euros (approximately £19.06 million) with potential add-ons. Importantly, Betis would have zero obligation to pay any further fees if they decided to sell the player, with a 50% sell-on clause also included in the contract.
The departures mark significant player movements for Manchester United as they reshuffle their squad structure following the completion of the 2025 season.
