The Namuwongo Blazers have successfully advanced to the Elite 16 stage of the Road to BAL 2026 after a commanding performance against Djabal Club. The match, held at the IST Gymnasium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, ended with a resounding 132-58 victory for the Ugandan team.

After a setback in their previous game against Dar City, where they lost 83-70, the Nam Blazers demonstrated resilience and skill, bouncing back with a much-needed win. The team's Joel Lukoji Banza made a strong start, hitting two three-pointers to open a 21-point lead (31-10) by the end of the first quarter.

The Blazers continued to dominate, with Peter Obleng adding to their tally with a dunk at the end of the second quarter, taking a 39-point lead into halftime. Obleng further extended his impressive performance with two long-range shots, helping the Blazers end the third quarter with a 37-point lead (84-47).

The final quarter was a one-sided affair, with the Blazers ultimately securing a massive 78-point victory. Several players made significant contributions, scoring in double digits: Peter Obleng with 39 points, Ivan Enabu and Innocent Ochera with 13 points each, Moses Mugisha and Arthur Wanyoto with 11 points each, and Jaycson Bay Bereal and Obasa Toluwalope with 10 points each.

This victory propels the Nam Blazers back onto the continental stage in November, where they will compete in the highly anticipated Elite 16. Their goal is to secure a spot in next year's Basketball Africa League, a testament to their determination and skill in the face of stiff competition.
