Nottingham Forest have appointed former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach, following the dismissal of Nuno Espírito Santo. The Australian has signed a two-year deal at the City Ground and will be officially unveiled on Thursday afternoon.

Postecoglou returns to management just three months after being sacked by Spurs, despite leading them to Europa League glory last season. His departure from Tottenham came after a turbulent Premier League campaign, where the club finished 17th with 22 defeats.

Postecoglou succeeds Nuno, whose sacking was confirmed late on Monday night amid reports of a strained relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis. The Greek owner, who has long admired Postecoglou (whose family has Greek origins), quickly identified him as the top candidate.

### **Marinakis Praises Postecoglou’s Appointment**
Marinakis expressed his excitement about the move, stating:

*"We are bringing a coach to the club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies. His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions."*

*"After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies. Ange has the credentials and the track record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey."*

### **Postecoglou’s Immediate Challenge**
The 60-year-old’s first four games in charge will all be away fixtures, including a trip to Arsenal on Saturday—a swift return to north London. His first home match will be against Sunderland on September 27, live on Sky Sports.

### **Postecoglou’s First Six Matches:**
- **Sat, Sept 9:** Arsenal (A) – Premier League (12:30 PM BST)
- **Sept 17:** Swansea (A) – Carabao Cup (8 PM BST, live on Sky)
- **Sept 20:** Burnley (A) – Premier League (3 PM BST)
- **Sept 24:** Real Betis (A) – Europa League (8 PM BST)
- **Sept 27:** Sunderland (H) – Premier League (5:30 PM BST, live on Sky)

### **Backroom Staff Plans**
Sky Sports News understands that Postecoglou is expected to bring in Mile Jedinak, Sergio Reimundo, Nick Montgomery, and Rob Burch as part of his coaching team.

Postecoglou’s arrival marks a fresh start for Forest, who hope his proven trophy-winning record will elevate the club to the next level. After ending Tottenham’s 17-year wait for silverware, the Australian will now aim to deliver similar success at the City Ground.

With the full backing of Marinakis, Postecoglou is set to make an immediate impact, beginning with a challenging away trip to Arsenal. Can Nottingham Forest compete for trophies under their new manager? Only time will tell.
