The 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony took place in Paris, celebrating the best in football. Ousmane Dembele, the Paris Saint-Germain and France forward, was crowned the men's Ballon d'Or winner. Dembele's impressive performance led his club to a treble-winning season and their first Champions League success.
In a emotional moment, Dembele collected the prize in front of a partisan crowd that chanted his name. The 28-year-old expressed his gratitude, saying it's an incredible feeling to achieve this award.
Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati made history by becoming the first woman to win the women's Ballon d'Or for three consecutive years. Bonmati has been a dominant force in women's football, leading her club and country to numerous victories.
"It's incredible this feeling," Bonmati said. "I never thought when I was a kid that I could achieve this because I didn't think women's football can exist. I had idols like Andres Iniesta and Xavi and when I was a kid I only saw them on TV. It's incredible to be here and make history."
The women's Ballon d'Or rankings saw Mariona Caldentey of Spain finish second, while Alessia Russo of England and Arsenal took third place.
In the coaching category, Sarina Wiegman, England's Lionesses head coach, was named the best women's coach after leading her team to triumph over Spain in Switzerland. Luis Enrique, PSG boss, picked up the men's Johan Cruyff award.
The inaugural award for best women's goalkeeper was won by Hannah Hampton of England and Chelsea, while Gianluigi Donnarumma of PSG and Manchester City took the seventh edition of the men's prize.
Arsenal and PSG won the awards for women's and men's club of the year after their Champions League successes. Viktor Gyokeres won the men's Gerd Muller Trophy for scoring 63 goals for Sporting and Sweden last season, while Ewa Pajor of Barcelona and Poland scooped the women's award.
