Police Football Club (Police FC) bounced back strongly with a dominant 4-0 win over the struggling Buhimba United in the Uganda Premier League match held at the Police Arena, Kira, on Wednesday. This victory comes hot on the heels of their narrow loss to Kitara in their previous league match.
The match began with an early threat from Denis Kalanzi, who nearly gave Police the lead with a skillful move that forced Buhimba United goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba into a fine save. Kalanzi eventually broke the deadlock in the 28th minute. Kiyimba struggled to handle Lawrence Tezikya's low drive, allowing Kalanzi to tap in the rebound.
Just before halftime, Brian James Obedi intercepted a pass on the left flank and set up Umaru Kasumba, who calmly slotted the ball home to double the lead. The second half saw Saidi Kyeyune, who was named Man of the Match, extend Police's advantage with a goal assisted by Kalanzi. Kyeyune's goal was a testament to his impressive performance throughout the match.
Hussein Mwanje sealed the victory with the fourth goal, capitalizing on a precise delivery from Emmanuel Mugume. The goal was particularly poignant for Mwanje, as it came against his former club. The win propels Police FC up to third place in the league standings with 17 points.
Meanwhile, Buhimba United's struggles continued as they suffered their sixth consecutive defeat. Despite starting the campaign with three straight wins, the team has since faced a downturn, now sitting in 13th place with nine points after nine matches. This loss adds to their mounting challenges in the league.
