Police FC showcased their dominance once again as they secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Entebbe UPPC at Bugonga Fisheries Ground. The match, played as the league resumed following the international break, saw Police further consolidate their lead at the top of the standings with their sixth win of the season.
While Entebbe UPPC began the game with a strong display, controlling the ball and dominating possession in the early stages, it was Police FC who found the breakthrough first. Two minutes after the half-hour mark, Lawrence Tezikya capitalized on a defensive error by Entebbe goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa, whose hesitation allowed Tezikya to score into an empty net. The goal gave Police the lead they would not relinquish.
Despite the home side's relentless pressure in the second half, Entebbe UPPC struggled to find an equalizer. Coach Abdallah Mubiru introduced Noordin Bunjo Sadic and Charles Okello Batibwe in place of Steven Munguchi and John Kokas Alou in a bid to spark a comeback. However, Police's defense remained resolute, effectively neutralizing Entebbe's attacks.
The match sealed Police FC's dominance as they doubled their lead late in the game. Eight minutes from time, Abdushakur Ramsey Jjemba added the second goal, securing the win for the visitors and cementing their position at the top of the table with 14 points from eight games.
Entebbe UPPC, despite their efforts, remain fifth in the standings with ten points, highlighting the gap between the league leaders and their rivals.
This victory not only solidifies Police FC's grip on the top spot but also underscores their consistent form, which has been a hallmark of their season so far. As the league continues, eyes will be on how Police FC maintains their momentum and whether they can sustain their lead over second-placed KCCA FC, who are now three points behind.
